How it all Started
They say necessity is the mother of invention and the Green Protein story is a testament to the veracity of this adage. This is a tale of friendship, compassion, and conscientiousness. Our founders – Madhvi Datwani, Parag Khimani, and Parigna Thorat – are individuals who shared a mutual respect for nutrition & nature. After developing a close friendship over the years, their paths converged again when they started looking for vegan and cruelty-free sources of protein.
Madhvi – a lawyer and proud parent of four teenagers and two dogs – had been dabbling with the idea of veganism and abstaining from dairy due to animal cruelty concerns. Parag, who is a business graduate from New York, found it difficult to juggle his love for sports and adherence to Jainism due to protein insufficiency in mundane meals of paneer and lentils. The third musketeer, Parigna, was looking for healthier alternatives to whey protein as she had several gastrointestinal issues because of her dairy allergy.
Realizing their collective needs and a growing consciousness towards eco-friendly and ethical protein alternatives, they dabbled with the idea of developing a protein that people could consume guilt-free. A product that was not only nutritionally whole, but refreshing & delicious as well. The pandemic in 2019 reinforced this ideology that nature and nutrition needed to go hand in hand. They conceptualized the brand over coffee table conversations about the growing need to switch to plant-based protein and promoting its use amongst people of all ages. Thus was born Green Protein-an environmentally friendly beverage, sourced from plants and suitable for the nutritional needs of the entire family.
